Boise Zoo

This is finally my last post from our trip to Boise, they've been kind of spread out. There are many things I like about Boise; their zoo isn't particularly one of them. This day they had a large portion of the animals blocked off, due to upgrades - thank goodness. As we were getting closer to this Zebra I noticed a smell that had my gag reflex close to the surface. You can tell by Denali and Savannah's reaction that they also thought it was a little unbearable. Malachi was our tour guide for the day - he carried his map the whole time making sure we didn't miss the very few animals there were to see.

You can't see them in this picture and I didn't know that, because my camera fell out of my car when we were camping and the screen cracked on a rock (so maddening!), but they have Alpacas here. Are you serious? Alpacas! Only in Idaho would you probably see this. If you drive down the street long enough in any city, you're more than likely to see them in someones backyard.

These two never pass up an oportunity to make faces at the camera

Can you hear me now?

They have this prairie dog exhibit where the kids can go thru this tunnel into the little side caves to see the dogs better, but of course on this day the dogs were no where to be seen.

The Zoo has this fun little learning center you can go in where they have this scale that shows you how much your child weighs, and then shows you which animal is the same weight. Denali weighs as much as an anteater does. I didn't get a picture of Chloe or Mal, because my camera ran out of photo space and I couldn't go in and erase any - hence the broken screen. Even though there weren't many animals out, it was still a good way to spend a few hours with my kids, Meredith and her girls plus Breanna.
