O' to be young again

Our first stop the day after arriving in Indy was the Children's Museum. Nate's two sisters, their kids and Nate's dad came with us. There are 5 fun filled floors of excitment.

There was a special King Tut exhibit, we choose not to go - as it would have cost our family and additional $95 just to get in - Malachi was willing to pony up the money, too bad he didn't have any.
One front view of the museum

and the other

We took this picture at the end of our day - it's Nate's dad joining in on the fun of hokey pokey, it tickled our funny bone to watch.

Scienceworks: Malachi's favorite part of the museum. He ran like a wild man checking everything out with his two cousins.

Sitting like and egyptian.
There was a fake front end of an airplane (complete with airline seats) with a movie inside that showed you what you'd see if you were to fly over Egypt. I think Mal lined up 6 times in a row for this flight. This part of the museum was called "Take me to Egypt", and it was Denali's favorite. These are the actual guns and lightsabers used while filming all six of the movies. This picuture does not capture how amazing it was to be this close to such coolness.
And here we have Anakin Skywalkers costume - way cool, I think Nate was even geeked out more than the kids.

The honest and true Jango Fett helmet

This is my particular favorite thing at the museum. I could have stared at it all day. This isn't even a good picture of "The Fireworks of Glass". It's called this because people think of fireworks when they see it. My kids on the other hand see: Chloe - the makings of balloon animals; Malachi - snakes (of course) and Denali was absent during the discussion.
This Dale Chihuly masterpiece is 43 ft tall, weighs 18,000 lbs, has 3,200 pieces of glass and took 14 days to assemble - absolutely amazing.

Denali digging for fossils in the "Dinosphere" exhibit. Our nephew Wyatt was especially difficult to persuade away from this exhibit - dinos are his favorite. I wish I had a picture of him that turned out in here, he is so full of animation.
This is water clock tower. The clock, which is 26.5 ft tall, uses 70 gallons of a solution of water, methyl alcohol and food coloring. It uses complex physics and mathmatical equations to keep accurate time. For an indepth discussion on it's workings, just ask Earl (Nate's dad, a walking book of information) - he'll set you straight. Or if you're really interested, just google it.

That is a great museum, supposedly the largest and best chi;dren's museum in the country. The large dinosaur that looks like it is breaking out of the dinosphere is really impressive.

This made me miss Pittsburgh. We loved the Carnegie Science center and all the fun things available for kids. Glad you had fun :)
