So, I'm a little behind in my blogging - shortly after the 4th we were able to go to a family reunion in Indianapolis, thank you to Nate's parents for that! I will be blogging our trip over the next couple of days. It was so great to see some of our family we haven't seen for 5 years.
This year we decided to go to the firework show in Bayview - it's a little town on the southern end of Lake Pend O'Reille pronounced "pond o ray". First we had a picnic and then the kids swam around in a little cove for a while. Lake Pend O'Reille has over 94,600 acres of surface water and is 1,150 feet deep; which made it a perfect place for Naval training during World War II. The water temperature never really gets above 45 degrees - one reason I will never swim there! The kids never seem to notice.

There's a lady who works for Nate who lives in Bayview - we ran into her as we were looking for a place to get ready for the firework show. She had these red, white and blue sun glasses she gave to the kids. They had three different settings you could put them on - solid, blinking and a round a bout motion. The only setting that wouldn't throw you into a seizure was probably the solid one. We'd never taken the kids to a big fireworks show and we were a little nervous about how Malachi would react and the different things he would shout out of his mouth in joy at seeing them. Never fear - he was amazed but not embarrassing. It was so cool to hear the blasts from the fireworks ricochet of the mountains.
